This is my entry for Whiplash Competiton. This month theme is accesories. Category: Design
When I was a kid I loved dressing up like an "adult". Acting like and adult made me feel so damn good back on those days. Obviously I loooked like anything but a real grown up woman. Actually I looked like a crazy woman, you know, 65 years old single living with a lot of cats and yeah, scaring children just a bit.
Anyway, when I was about 5 I was so into jewelry. I used to make necklaces out of everything from clay to pasta and even sweaters. A lot of clothes around my neck would be a gold necklace, pants over my head would be a crown. That's when I realized that accesories where much more than just what they were meant to be, it was all about imagination and the use I gave to that item. I had the power to turn anything into whatever I wanted.
When I finally grown up, I lost a bit of my imagination. Suddenly all accesories where just what they were meant to be. Rings around the fingers, necklaces surrounding my neck, bracelets hugging my wrists, etc.
So for this challenge I decided that I would go back to the times when a sweater was more than just a sweater. That's when this crocheted necklace was born. It doesn't look like a normal necklace, it can be a sweater gone bad, a pasta and crayons mess, a bag full of candies... all that hanging around my neck.
I called it "Teaparty" because it reminded me of my love for childhood tea parties when I used to talk with my little friends like "high society ladies", queens of our own country, dressed with ridiculous customs and having fun and dreaming.
It's really easy to build. I just chained a lot of beaded strands and then added the crocheted beads. You can even help your daughter to make one!
